This is the concluding blog in the the art of self-disruption for leaders in the age of AI.
You can find the pre-cursor to this blog here.
The future of AI lies in human-machine handshake designed to create a win-win. This may be unsolicited for some of us. However it is where the world is heading.
Playing at extreme ends of Human Vs Machine, harping on the superiority of either, will just prolong the agony of transition.
What is the alternate thought process that one needs to develop once the disruption in the past thought process happens?
Re-imagine business
Small improvements over status-quo cannot be the modus-operandi for the age of AI. That's because in the old paradigm, machines were not majority stakeholders :-)
The skill most needed is re-imagination.
There is no alternative than going back to the drawing board and redesign for machine-inclusive business that does not hamper humans.
The deliberate re-imagination helps to build our future consciously, paying enough attention to human values & safety.
As Marshall Goldsmith would famously say.
What got you here will not get you there!
2. Redefine metrics
The metrics of the future are going to be very different. Especially for machines and humans separately and humano-machines together.
The measure(s) of success have to take into account strengths but also safety.
The metrics for co-existence may have to be emergent in some cases but have to be thought through well.
3. Remember 'Who' is the master?
A Master is one who continuously learns, acts and does not have a particular destination point.
Let that not be the machine.
As humans, it's time to scale up to rightfully take the place of the master.
We are called to evolve in leaps now.
We would not like to disappoint our race and herald the era of machines.
This would entail building skills that machines can't compete with. It also involves designing with care and responsibility.
Where do you see your place in the world that contains machines?
What can be better for you?
What are the things you are proud of already?
