How to Create a Motivation-Driven Design for Success in Your Life?

I give up!

It's not uncommon for many people to give up on their dreams, goals or health because they believe they cannot sustain the effort & time needed to get there.

They believe that the effort, time & energy they envision to reach their goals, is not fitting into their overall life theme(s).

Hence the journey towards the goal needs to be designed for 'who they are' and their 'priorities in life are' rather than they having to turn their life upside-down to fit in their goals.

While there could be some genuine reasons for giving up certain things, if someone is giving up because the cost of their dreams is too high, they can explore designing the work required for their goals in a conscious way that helps them sustain the effort.

Our motivation boosters are defined in the ARC model of motivation as below:

If there is "No motivation", then its not your dream or goal.

If one wants to go from 'Controlled Motivation' to Autonomous Motivation, there is a chasm to cross. It will be easier to cross it when you find something you value in the process, that serves you in the journey rather than just goal achievement.

Here are some ways you can design your effort with your choice

  • Choice of When, Where, How (Design for practicality)

  • Choice of 'With Whom' (Design for Community)

  • Choice of Capability Growth (Design for Growth)

When you embark on the journey towards your goal, think about how you can work these choices into it.

This will not only help you reach your goal, it will also help you enjoy the journey to get there.
